Thalang Police reported that a 48-year-old man was shot in the knee after allegedly threatening local residents with a knife outside a home in Tambon Thepkrasattri. The shooting occurred at about 5:10pm in front of a house in Moo 7. Police received the report at 5:40pm.

The injured man, Somporn Rasmi, suffered a gunshot wound to his left knee and was taken to Thalang Hospital.

According to witness statements, Mr Somporn had arrived at the house carrying a knife and threatening residents. Local residents intervened but he refused to drop the weapon.

Police said Kiattisak Thongphrom, 37, who lives at the same address, then fired a single round from a 9mm Glock pistol, striking Somporn in the knee.

Mr Kiattisak and others transported the injured man to hospital immediately afterwards.

Responding officers arrested Mr Kiattisak at the scene and seized the firearm used in the incident. He is facing charges of carrying a firearm in a public place without reasonable cause and attempted murder.

Thalang Police investigators documented the scene and are continuing their enquiries. The case is under the supervision of Pol Lt Col Nikorn Chuthong, Superintendent of Thalang Police Station, with Pol Lt Wiriyapong Srinuanpan as the investigating officer.

Thalang Police did not give any reason for the knife threats, or any explanation as to any previous interactions between Kiatsak and Somporn, or any charges so far brought against Somporn for his threatening behaviour with the knife.

DOMESTIC STABBING IN MAI KHAO

Earlier yesterday afternoon, Tha Chatchai Police responded to a separate violent incident involving a knife fight inside a home in Mai Khao.

Police received the report at about 4pm. Officers arrived at the house in Moo 5 to find that Thaweesak Promwas had been stabbed multiple times in the abdomen.

Investigators were told that Mr Thaweesak, the ex-husband of the informant, entered the house and became involved in a confrontation with the current husband, Dechachai Srisuwan.

Initial questioning revealed that Mr Thaweesak allegedly grabbed a knife first and attacked Mr Dechachai, who then picked up a kitchen knife to defend himself. A struggle followed, during which Mr Thaweesak was stabbed several times.

An ambulance was called and the injured man was transported to Thalang Hospital.

Police said the incident stemmed from an ongoing personal dispute. Officers are continuing their investigation and will proceed with the relevant legal action.

The case is being overseen by Pol Col Kantchawit Phoprasit, Superintendent of Tha Chatchai Police Station, with Pol Lt Nattawut Saraithong as the responsible investigator, Tha Chatchai Police said in their report.

Police in Thalang District said both cases remain under active investigation, with further action to be taken once full statements and evidence have been compiled.
