Patong Police confirmed the incident occurred at about 9pm in Soi Cha Tan, off 50 Pi Rd. Police received the report at approximately 9:15pm.
Police identified the deceased as Chaikrit Pradongchan, 25, who died later at Patong Hospital.
The injured woman, Sahasakorn Khamphawet, 39, sustained serious injuries and remains conscious but was unable to provide a statement. She is receiving treatment at Patong Hospital.
A third person, Sasutathip Bunson, 33, was not injured in the incident.
Police said the crash involved two motorbikes and a car. When officers and rescue workers arrived at the scene, they found a Honda Wave motorbike, registered in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, a Lambretta motorbike registered in Bangkok and a white Chevrolet Sonic registered in Phuket, which had been damaged.
The two motorbikes had sustained severe damage.
According to witness accounts and CCTV footage obtained from the area, the Lambretta motorbike had overtaken on the right and collided with the Honda Wave. The Honda Wave was then pushed into the Chevrolet.
Both injured riders were transported to Patong Hospital, where Mr Chaikrit later succumbed to his injuries.
Pol Lt Sakwanat Damcha-om, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Patong Police Station, said an official report has been filed and an investigation is ongoing. Further legal action will follow once the investigation is completed.
