Officers arrested the man, not named by police, at an unregistered address on Soi Klong Bang Wat, off Ratchapathanusorn Rd, at about 8pm last Sunday (Mar 16).

At the time of the arrest, police recovered key evidence, including two ASAKI brand backup batteries, a black short-sleeved T-shirt featuring a Chang beer logo, and a pair of jean shorts, which matched the clothing worn by the suspect during the crime.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by a 7-Eleven employee on Mar 10, Patong Police explained.

The employee reported that at about 5am that day, a man entered the Rath-U-Thit 200 Pi 7-Eleven store and stole a case of Chang beer and two power banks. The suspect then fled the scene on a motorcycle parked outside the store.

Police reviewed CCTV footage from the store and identified the suspect based on his physical appearance and clothing. After further investigation, they tracked him down to the unregistered building where he was arrested.

The man was taken into custody at Patong Police Station and charged with “theft at night using a vehicle to facilitate the crime or evade arrest”.

Police did not mention whether the beer or power banks had been recovered.
