Police and emergency services were called to the home, in Moo Baan Phra Pin, located off Luang Por Chaem Rd, in Moo 4, Chalong, at around 1:17am.
The man was later identified as Kittisak Mawan.
Officers from Chalong Police arrived at the scene along with a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital and rescue workers from Chalong Municipality to find Mr Kittisak’s body lying near the bedroom door.
He was dressed in a black T-shirt and cartoon-printed pink pants. A black shoelace was found tied to a screw nail in the door frame, and marks were visible on his neck.
According to Rungroj Mawan, the victim’s father, he had found his son and cut the shoelace in an attempt to save him, but it was too late, reported Chalong Police.
Authorities noted that Mr Kittisak had a history of receiving psychiatric treatment at Suan Saranrom Hospital. His body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for medical examination to confirm the cause of death.
