The market is a renowned hub for local Phuket cuisine and a popular destination for both Thai and international tourists.

Led by Woranit Apirat Jirawong, chief of the Phuket Provincial Commercial Office, the team informed market operators of the legal requirements to display accurate prices clearly.

The inspection aimed to prevent consumer exploitation and enable customers to compare prices before making purchases, thus fostering a positive image for Phuket tourism, explained an official report of the visit.

"Chamcha Market is a key attraction where tourists can experience authentic local food. Ensuring transparent pricing helps maintain fairness and enhances the market’s reputation," said Ms Woranit.

Although there had been no consumer complaints reported at Chamcha Market to date, the Phuket Provincial Commercial Office regularly inspects the area to preempt any potential issues, the report said.

During the visit, officials observed that while some vendors had clearly posted price tags, others had not.

“The team advised these vendors on the necessity of labeling their products with clear prices and requested compliance to uphold consumer protection standards,” the report noted.
