The landslip occurred near the ‘Patong City’ sign on the east side of the hill, dumping about two cubic metres of sodden earth onto the road.
Officers from Patong Municipality and the Patong Police were soon on scene to place traffic cones around the debris.
However, traffic soon backed up for more than a kilometre, causing long delays.
The landslip, although small, spurred concerns of further landslips following heavy periods of rain like the recent spate of heavy weather Phuket has experienced the past week.
The hill suffered a major landslide after a prolonged period of heavy rain in October last year.
Thankfully, no people wre injured in the landslide, but the delays in traffic while the hill was repaired continued for months.
