The fatal crash happened at about 8:40am, near the U-turn in front of the 7-Eleven Ton Sae branch, on the Phuket-bound side of the road.
Pol Lt Thanawat Maneesom, Deputy Investigation Inspector at Kok Kloi Police Station, said officers arrived at the scene to find a damaged Honda motorbike, registered in Phang Nga, and a white Isuzu refrigerated delivery truck with Phuket licence plates laying on its side.
The motorbike rider, Ornuch Kongsin, 38, a resident of Koh Panyi, was seriously injured. She was pinned under the box of the refrigerated truck.
Ms Ornuch had suffered severe head injuries, and was unconscious and pulseless. CPR was performed before she was rushed to Takua Thung Hospital. At about 10am, hospital staff notified police that Ms Ornuch had succumbed to her injuries.
Police identified the driver of the delivery truck as 24-year-old Tiwa Senpan, Takua Pa District, who was travelling with one male passenger. Both were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said officers are continuing to review the circumstances of the collision.
No charges have yet been confirmed. Police said they are still investigating whether reckless driving causing death will be filed against the truck driver.
