Special blood donation events are being held to help with the need for Rh-negative blood. Since most Thai donors have Rh-positive blood, foreign donors are the main source of Rh-negative supply.
As tourism increases, so do accidents and emergencies involving tourists, creating a higher demand for this rare blood type. Eligible donors are encouraged to donate whenever they can.
Also, throughout 2025 the Red Cross is inviting all people to participate in acts of kindness by donating blood to help patients in need.
The initiative is part of the project ‘#70thAnniversary70MillionCCs in Honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.’.
The initiative is being held to commemorate Her Royal Highness’s 70th birthday on April 2, 2025.
