Municipal officials have requested in a public announcement that rubbish be placed out for collection only between 6pm and 1am from Dec 1-6, with all bags tied securely before being left for pickup.

Those needing to dispose of waste outside the designated hours are asked to use one of two approved drop-off points: Pak Bang Road parking area; and Karon Beach tsunami warning tower.

Karon Municipality apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary measures, which aim to maintain cleanliness and order during the royal reception.

The announcement did not warn of any penalties for people who ignore the request.
