The ‘Kamala Koalas’, a strong a talented nine-man team, made the journey north to represent Kamala Lawn Bowls Club at the Retreat Bowls Club in Pattaya.
Competing as three separate three-man teams, the Koalas performed admirably away from home and, halfway through the final end, looked to be set for a famous victory.
However, their valiant efforts were to ultimately prove fruitless as the experienced Pattaya team took advantage of home comforts to run out 16-6 winners.
“The bowls green in Pattaya is much longer and faster than what we are used to at home in Phuket,” explained Carl Mesham, the youngest member of the Koalas team.
“Not using this as an excuse but it means it literally takes twice as long and curls in a lot more to ultimately get to the jack than we are used to,” he added.
“However, for everyone of our players on the tour to be involved in winning at least one game was a fantastic effort.
“We will be back next year to win it,” a confident Carl concluded.
