The Thailand Women’s Cycling team rider won the third and final stage from Bueng Sam Phan to Si Thep Historical Park, covering the distance of 61.30km, in a time of 1:29.43 hours. She snatched the overall crown with a total time of 6h 49m 18s, reports the Bangkok Post.
The 35-year-old Jutatip received the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup and a B150,000 cash bonus from Thai cycling chief Gen Decha Hemkrasi for her win.
Australian rider Claudia Marcks of Bikewheels.com.au captured second place and Vietnamese Nguyen Thi That, who won the first and second stage, took third.
Other Thai cyclists who finished in the top 15 were Supuksorn Nuntana of Thailand Continental Cycling team (9th), Kamonrada Khaoplot (11th) and Rungnapha Kuson (14th), both of Thailand national team.
Jutatip and Nguyen both finished the three-stage race in 6h 49m 18s but the title went to the Thai cyclist, who finished second in the first two stages while the Vietnamese came third in the last stage.
Marcks finished third overall in 6h 49m 32s, Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir of Malaysia national team was fourth in 6h 49m 41s and another Thai cyclist Kamonrada Khaoplot of Thailand national team was fifth in 6h 49m 42s.
“The result was better than I expected,” said a beaming Jutatip. “I would like to thank the Thai cycling chief Gen Decha, who has always been my biggest supporter. Thank you to all my teammates and coaching staff as well for sticking together and working hard everyday.
“There was such a high expectation because we are a home team and thanks to everyone who believed in me. Thank you to all the fans for the support.”
Jutatip also swept the other two individual titles - the Best Asean Rider award (purple jersey) and the Best Sprinters award (green jersey) with 49 points.
Rungnapha Kuson of Thailand national team won the most combative rider award.
Malaysia national team won the overall team title with a total time of 20h 29m 15s. Bikewheels.com.cu Cycling team of Australia were second and Thailand Women’s Cycling team came third.
