In Patong, a special event was held at Loma Park on the Patong beachfront for 14 couples, with Patong Municipality this year highlighting LGBTQ+ couples marrying under the municipality’s ‘Love is Love’ initiative.

Thalang District Office held a small celebration on Layan Beach starting at 4:30pm as part of its activities to honour couples marrying today.

Phuket’s three District Offices opened at 8:30am for couples to register their marriage.

In Phuket Town, at the Mueang Phuket District Registration Office, 50 couples received souvenirs under the theme, "Marriage, love, take care of each other at Paradise Island @ Muang Phuket".

Couples also received gifts of seeds, vegetables and kitchen garden items under the concept of “Good soil, good water, a happy, sustainable life.”

Phuket Vice Governor Sattha Thongkam officiated proceedings at Mueang Phuket District Registration Office this morning, joined by Mueang Phuket District Chief Worasit Putjeeb. In total, more than 80 government officials and couples attended the main event.

“Congratulations to the married couples who came to register their marrige on Valentine’s Day,” Mr Sattha said.

“Couples registering their marriage today, the day of love, is considered a very good sign. It’s the beginning of living together, of working together to create love, and creating a stable and unified partnership,” he added.

“I believe that the married lives of such couples will be prosperous… Best wishes to all the couples who married today. May you experience happiness, prosperity and success in your married life forever." Mr Sattha said.
