Thalang Police confirmed they were notified by Thalang Hospital at 7:30pm that a man injured in an attack had been admitted to the emergency room. The incident itself occurred at about 5pm, police said.

The victim, Amorn Yimsong, 61, originally from Phatthalung Province, suffered multiple lacerations to his head and face believed to have been caused by a sharp object. He remained unconscious at the time the report was filed.

According to the initial investigation led by Pol Lt Col Warawut Sensoep, Mr Amorn works as a junk dealer and had been living at a residence in Baan Pakrong Cheep, Thepkrasattri.

Police were told the incident stemmed from an ongoing conflict between Mr Amorn and his ex-wife related to his new partner. The confrontation reportedly escalated while Mr Amorn was intoxicated.

Later the same evening, Duangnet Naopai, 51, from Thepkrasattri, surrendered to police and admitted she had struck Mr Amorn with a two-inch wooden plank. She claimed the Mr Amorn had entered her home uninvited and attempted to provoke and assault her before she retaliated.
