“Dear Friends and Family… During the remembrance gatherings at Pastel Bar and Goodvibes P-Town last month, we gathered donations for a charity in memory of our close friend Jason Winder. One of Jason’s dreams and pursuits here in Thailand was to spread the power of music by enabling children access to it and fostering their musicality,” explained Good Vibes P-Town through a post online.

“In his memory, we collected 32,720 THB during both remembrance and charity events. We used this money to buy drum kits for a school in northern Thailand, Tungkawittaya school in Lampang, which was in dire need of replacing their broken and worn down instruments.

“In the name of Pastel Bar and Goodvibes P-Town, we want to thank all our friends that came and attended the events and enabled us to make one more dream of Jason come true.

“Thanks go out as well to all artists and musicians that have joined us in these two events,” the post said.

“May Jason live on in our memory and music!”

Jason, the iconic voice of the Phuket Live Radio - Live 89.5FM Drive Time show who made the phrase’ Sawadee Khrap Pee Nong Khrap!’ a calling, passed away in June at the Glastonbury music festival whilst resting in his on-site tent. He was 48 years old.

Jason’s passing was widely lamented by the Phuket community, and by those who knew and loved him abroad.

Jason’s sister, Emily Hope, later came forward to explain what happened in the final moments of his life.

“I want everyone to know he died peacefully during a nap in our tent after he and I had been cuddling, laughing and making future plans and after the amazing paramedics had announced the death he was surrounded by friends holding him, telling him how loved he was and singing his favourite songs.”

“He died blissfully happy. Next to his favourite person. In his favourite place on earth,” she wrote.
