The arrests were carried out by the Marine Police Division under the CIB during an operation to suppress illegal activity in the area.
The men, named by police only as ‘Mr Kumar’, 29, ‘Mr Honey’, 34, and ‘Mr Armanjot’, 20, were found preparing food on the vessel when officers requested to see their documents.
All three produced only passports and could not provide valid work permits. They later confessed to being hired by a man identified only as ‘Mr Rikhi’ to prepare Indian food on the boat, for which they were each paid B700.
The suspects were taken into custody on charges of working without work permits, in violation of Section 8 of the Alien Employment Management Act (No. 2) B.E. 2561 (2018), the CIB confirmed in their report.
Police confirmed that still and video evidence of the arrest was submitted to investigators at Chalong Police Station, where further legal proceedings are now underway.
