Patong Police reported that a landslide occurred on 50 Pi Rd in the Kung Katha area of Patong at about 6:50am, blocking all traffic. The collapse brought down two large trees and left three electricity poles leaning dangerously over the road.
Traffic cones were placed to block the area, and coordination was made with the Patong Municipality’s electricity department to secure the site. Police urged motorists to avoid the road until further notice.
In another incident, a large tree fell across the Kathu–Koh Kaew Road, causing traffic congestion earlier this morning. The Koh Kaew Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor) deployed a team to clear the obstruction but had to wait for the electricity supply to be cut off before safely removing the fallen trees.
By 9:10am, officials confirmed the road had reopened, though motorists were advised to proceed with caution.
Meanwhile, Phuket Town experienced minor flooding after hours of continuous rain. Officials are closely monitoring water levels in the Bang Yai Canal, which have risen sharply since dawn.
According to the Phuket Meteorological Station, the island is expected to continue experiencing heavy rain throughout the day, with a 70% chance of thunderstorms and westerly winds between 15-30 km/h.
Wave heights are around one metre, rising to over two metres in areas affected by storms. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and small boats are urged to remain ashore.
As of this morning, Phuket has recorded 316 millimetres of rainfall so far in October and a total of 2,260mm for the year to date.
The Meteorological Department forecasts today’s high at 33°C and tonight’s low at 24°C.
Residents are urged to stay alert for weather updates and avoid flood-prone or landslide-risk areas.
