As of 8:30am, the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center reported ongoing coordination with district-level incident command units and local administrative organisations to manage the situation.
Significant rainfall has been recorded in all three districts in Phuket. The highest 24-hour rainfall was measured at 52mm at Bang Niao Dam Station in Kathu District as of 7am.
In Thalang District, continuous rain has raised flood concerns in several areas, including Phuket International Airport, Phru Samphan Village, Mak Prok Village and the Bang Jo–Blue Tree intersection on the route to Cheng Talay.
Flash flooding from the hills has also been reported, affecting road access.
Phuket City Municipality has seen ongoing rain as well, with flooding reported in low-lying areas such as Surin Rd. While vehicles can still pass through Surin Soi 2, municipal and disaster prevention officials have erected temporary steel barriers to manage rising water levels.
Authorities are closely watching Klong Bang Yai, a key canal that runs over 20km from Kathu through important communities in Wichit and Ratsada before emptying into the sea at Saphan Hin. The canal plays a crucial role in flood prevention, especially in the economic zone of Phuket Old Town ‒ a popular tourist destination.
Officials are on high alert to prevent flooding in commercial areas and are urging the public to remain vigilant as the rain continues.
