The ceremony, held at Laem Dinso in Ban Borrae, Wichit, was presided over by Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO) President Rewat Areerob. Joining the event were Wichit Mayor Kreetha Chotiwichanphiphat and Phuket Provincial Fisheries Chief Prayut Rattanawan, along with municipal executives, department heads, students, community leaders and local residents.
Mr Prayut said the release was held to honour the Queen Mother’s grace and dedication to the country, while promoting conservation and restoration of coastal resources vital to the livelihoods of local fishermen.
This year’s release included 150,000 giant freshwater prawns and 350,000 black tiger prawns to help replenish natural stocks and support sustainable incomes.
Mayor Kreetha noted that the event is organised annually as part of Wichit Municipality’s commitment to continue the royal initiative on natural resource conservation and to encourage community participation.
He also took the opportunity to promote the new Laem Dinso Viewpoint, which is being developed in two phases: a B17.7 million road and landscaping upgrade along Ao Yon–Khao Khad Road, and an B8.27mn drainage and road improvement project along Borrae–Khao Khad Road.
In his closing remarks, Mr Rewat expressed his royal praise and best wishes to Her Majesty, and his gratitude for her enduring support of Thailand’s fisheries sector.
The event highlighted the cooperation between government agencies, educational institutions, and the public in honouring the Queen Mother while contributing to the conservation of marine resources for future generations.
