The seminar, titled ‘From Vision to Action’, was held at the Royal Phuket City Hotel and led by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat, joined by Vice Governor Samawit Suphanphai, senior government officials, and representatives from the Phuket Provincial Police, Tourist Police and Immigration Bureau.

Local consuls and representatives from more than 10 countries – including Russia, South Korea, Spain, Germany, Norway, Luxembourg, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Hungary – attended to share international perspectives and proposals for the island’s future.

Governor Sophon said the meeting was designed to turn strategic ideas into concrete steps for Phuket’s integrated development. “This is a platform for exchanging views and ensuring that government, private and international partners move forward together,” he noted.

Key sessions covered a wide range of issues:

* Safe Phuket: Law-enforcement agencies outlined ongoing security measures to protect residents and tourists.

* Disaster readiness: The Region 18 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre highlighted the rollout of cell-broadcast technology to provide real-time disaster warnings.

* Tourism outlook: The Phuket Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket office and the Phuket Tourism Business Council reported steady recovery and set out plans for more sustainable tourism.

* Infrastructure upgrades: Officials detailed progress on transport links, traffic management, water resources and environmental protection to support urban growth and the expanding tourism sector.

Participants also discussed social and educational development, waste management and proposals for a new comprehensive radiotherapy centre to improve healthcare services.

The seminar concluded with an appreciation ceremony for Governor Sophon, who is due to retire on Sept 30. Consuls and honorary consuls presented flowers and messages of goodwill, praising his role in strengthening Phuket’s ties with the international community.

Organisers said the outcomes of the seminar will help shape the next phase of Phuket’s development plan, ensuring that economic growth, safety and environmental sustainability remain top priorities.
