The deceased, identified as a French passport holder*, had been holidaying on Phi Phi Island, police reported.
According to an official police report, the man had been drinking and dining at a nearby bar last night. The man, presumed to be drunk, apparently fell unconscious.
Witnesses said he appeared heavily intoxicated and was later taken to the WorldMed Center, located in Moo 7, Ao Nang.
Medical staff at the clinic contacted Koh Phi Phi Police Station to request assistance in transporting the tourist back to his accommodation.
However, officers said he was too intoxicated to be moved, so they allowed him to rest on a sofa outside the front of the station while he recovered.
At about 5:50am today, Pol Lt Apilak Suwannalikit, Deputy Investigation Inspector at Koh Phi Phi Police Station, went to check on the man and found that he was unresponsive.
Emergency personnel were called, but the tourist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was taken to Koh Phi Phi Hospital, where an initial examination was conducted. Police confirmed that no signs of assault or foul play were found.
Authorities are awaiting final medical reports to determine the exact cause of death.
