The free vaccination is part of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana’s “Disease-Free Animals, Rabies-Free People” project, aiming to eradicate rabies completely in Thailand.
Rabies, a fatal but vaccine-preventable zoonotic disease, predominantly affects disadvantaged and/or rural populations in Asia. It is transmitted via bites and scratches from infected animals, with dogs responsible for around 99% of human cases, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
As part of the project, Chalong residents can vaccinate their pets for free in April at the following locations:
- Moo 1 – Apr 1 – Guan Yu Shrine Baan Nabon, Multipurpose Community Hall.
- Moo 2 – Apr 2 – Moo 2 Village Headman’s Office.
- Moo 3 – Apr 2 – Moo 2 Village Headman’s Office.
