The Phuket branch of the Public Relations Department (PR Phuket) have confirmed that all arranged transport for residents travelling to Bangkok to pay respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother is free of charge.
The service is open only to Thai citizens who are Phuket residents, and participants may present either their national ID card or a photocopy.
Checks by The Phuket News confirmed that all slots under Phuket City Municipality are already full. The Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO) and other municipalities report the first round is fully booked, but spaces remain available for later trips.
Residents are advised to contact their local municipality or tambon administrative organisation to confirm remaining availability.
Phuket officials held a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall last Friday (Nov 21) to finalise preparations for assisting the public in travelling to Bangkok for mourning ceremonies at the Grand Palace, held from Nov 17, 2025 to Feb 1, 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Vice Governor Adul Chuthong, brought together provincial offices, local authorities, and relevant agencies to review operational readiness.
Key procedures reviewed in the meeting covered convoy management, participant screening, ID badge issuance, vehicle and driver readiness checks, food and water preparation, and security measures to ensure safe and orderly travel.
The meeting confirmed free trips from Phuket to Bangkok will be offered on four days: Nov 27, Dec 16, Jan 9, 2026, and Jan 23, 2026.
Each day will accommodate 750 travellers.
