A ceremony was held at the cinema room of Building 5A, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, where Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat and Dr Supalak Kanchanamethakul, President of the Phuket Children’s Protection Foundation and Vice President of the Phuket Red Cross Society, joined hotel operators and representatives from the private sector in distributing scholarships to local students facing various hardships.

In 2025, the foundation provided a total of B607,000 in scholarship funds to 230 students. Recipients included 36 kindergarteners, 85 primary school students, 70 secondary school students, 25 vocational students and 14 pursuing bachelor’s degrees.

All scholarships are long-term, supporting students from early education through university.

The Phuket Children’s Protection Foundation, a non-profit public benefit organisation based at Prince of Songkla University, has been supporting vulnerable children in the province for over 28 years.

The foundation’s core projects include the Phuket Child Protection Shelter, Uncle Pitak’s House, the Mobile Teacher Project, the Community Survey and Case Monitoring Project, and the Powdered Milk for Children Project.

The scholarship initiative has been running continuously since 2005, distributing a total of more than B15.6 million in educational aid over the past two decades.
