A team of officers led by officials from the Phuket Provincial Office of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) arrived at the busy market on Ranong Rd in front of the shrine at about 7:30pm.
Joining the MSDHS team were officials from Phuket City Municipality and the Mueang District Office, along with officials from the Phuket City Police.
The team encountered three individuals conducting street performances, while another case involved a woman and her 3-year-old daughter selling candy on the street.
Officers from the Children and Family Shelter intervened, explaining the Child Protection Act of 2003 and issuing a warning to the mother to prevent further violations.
Additionally, two foreign nationals were also found street performing for money.
Officials from the Protection Center coordinated with the Phuket Immigration Office “to address the issue”, said an official report of the street check.
A meeting was scheduled for today to pursue legal action against those involved, the report added.
The MSDHS will continue its checks, joined by local law enforcement, to enforce regulations and protect vulnerable groups in Phuket, the report concluded.
