Foreign tourist survives fall at Patong hotel

PHUKET: A foreign tourist was rushed to hospital last night (Aug 18) after falling from a Patong hotel under circumstances police say remain unclear.

UPDATE: Patong Police later identified the foreign man as Israeli national Idan Pistiner, 20, from Jerusalem. Mr Idan had later died from his injuries, Patong Police confirmed.


Patong Police received a call at 6:36pm reporting that a man had fallen from a height at a hotel on Phra Mettha Rd.

Deputy Investigation Chief Pol Lt Col Somprasong Labaisat, together with Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation rescue workers, arrived at the scene to find the tourist unconscious on the ground behind the hotel.

Police reported that the man, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, had suffered multiple broken limbs but still had a pulse. Foundation workers provided emergency first aid before transporting him to Patong Hospital.

Patong Police said officers are working to establish both the man’s identity and the circumstances leading to his fall.
