The flooding, which inundated more than 790 homes across central and northern Phuket on Sunday, severely impacted residents in Tambon Thepkrasattri.
Sitthichai Jantawat, President of the Thepkrasattri Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor), reported that seven villages were affected (Moo Baan. 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 11).
In response, a temporary shelter was set up at Wat Thepkrasattri (Wat Baan Don) to assist residents and opened a registration center for those seeking aid. Initially more than 100 people sought refuge at the shelter.
While many residents in the area have moved back into their homes, more than 400 residents have already registered for assistance, providing necessary documents, Mr Sitthichai said.
Various sectors, including private organisations, associations and foundations, have contributed supplies, he noted. Bangkok Hospital Phuket, in collaboration with the Phuket Provincial Public Relations Office, donated 100 first-aid kits. Anchan property group donated eseential supplies and water.
Volunteers have been mobilised to prepare meals and packed food for distribution to affected residents, including those not staying at the temporary shelter. Food is also being distributed to residents in Cherng Talay and nearby areas, said an official report of the relief efforts.
To prevent future flooding, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), along with related agencies, has implemented preventive measures, including deploying water pumps at critical points to monitor the situation around the clock, the report added.
