The operation took place between 5pm and 7pm yesterday (May 13). The inspection team included the Thalang District Office Special Operations Unit, Phuket Immigration Police, Phuket Provincial Employment Office, Sakhu Police, public health officers and local community leaders from Tambon Sakhu.

Authorities targeted two labour camps located in Moo 3 and Moo 4 Sakhu, home to some 90 foreign workers.

Officers checked work permits, passports and conducted health screenings. No illegal items were found during the search.

However, random urine drug tests were conducted on 40 workers, with five testing positive for methamphetamine. Authorities recorded the results, notified the respective employers, and launched investigations to trace the source of the drugs.

In addition to drug screenings, officials provided guidance on improving camp management, hygiene, environmental standards and overall security, reported the Thalang District Office.

Local village heads and community leaders were instructed to closely monitor the camps and ensure continued compliance with district regulations.
