Phuket Governor Nirat Phongsitthaworn, joined by Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO) President Rewat Areerob, Mueang Phuket District Chief Pairoj Srilamul, government officials and police officers, oversaw the evening departure of 150 residents from the PPAO headquarters. Officials were on hand to maintain order, assist travellers and offer moral support.

Air-conditioned buses provided by the PPAO carried the group to Bangkok, with police officers assigned to each vehicle for safety. Drivers and vehicles were screened prior to departure, with strict checks including drug testing and mechanical inspections to ensure the highest level of safety for the journey.

Governor Nirat said the province was fully committed to supporting everyone wishing to travel to the capital to pay tribute to Her Majesty, noting that all sectors were working together to ensure a smooth, respectful and secure passage for Phuket residents.

Travellers expressed gratitude for the care and attention they received, saying the well-organised transport and strong support from officials reassured them and added to the honour of participating in the royal tribute.

Earlier yesterday afternoon, a separate group of 120 residents departed under arrangements organised by the Phuket Provincial Office in collaboration with the Sakhu Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (Sakhu OrBorTor).

Three buses left Sakhu at 4pm, accompanied by three police officers. The atmosphere was calm and orderly as District Chief Siwat Rawangkul and OrBorTor Sakhu Mayor Trin Panyawai inspected preparations and guided travellers through a rehearsal of travel procedures to ensure everyone was familiar with the rules and safety measures.

Before departure, officials conducted vehicle checks, confirmed driver readiness and provided safety briefings to the public. OrBorTor Sakhu also assigned vehicle coordinators, set clear meeting points and arranged assistance for the entire journey to ensure confidence, convenience and maximum safety for all passengers.

Further groups from Phuket are expected to travel in the coming days as the province continues to facilitate public participation in the mourning and merit-making ceremonies in Bangkok.
