No people or property damage were reported from either of the two fires.

Meanwhile, firefighters in Mai Khao were required to rush to a fire by the side of the road near Wat Tha Chatchai at the northern end of the island yesterday to douse the flames there before they could spread.

Local residents and tourists have been called on to avoid any actions that may cause a wildfire, including islanders being asked to not start any fires to burn off dry vegetation.

Any persons wanting to report a wildfire in their area are urged to call the national fire department hotline 199.

The weather forecast currently predicts the hot, dry weather to continue, with temperatures rising again to 37°C over the coming weekend accompanied by periods of strong gusts of wind that make wildfires all the more dangerous.
