The accident occurred at around 8.22pm, involving multiple vehicles, including two motorbikes and three private cars, police reported.

A Filipina passenger riding pillion on a motorcycle was later pronounced dead at Patong Hospital.

The deceased was identified as Joy Tarroza Divinagracia, 40, a Filipino national. She was riding as a passenger on a blue Honda PCX160 motorcycle, driven by Phonlaphas Nukrohchip, 34, of Phuket, who was also injured.

The incident began when a white Honda HR-V, driven by Kritsana Kadam, 26, from Krabi, collided with two motorbikes and other vehicles on the road.

Mr Kritsana was carrying two foreign passengers, one of whom was identified as Jay-Ar Navida, also a Filipino national. He was not injured.

Other injured parties include Ms Kanyanat Phanumas, 24, from Nakhon Si Thammarat (motorcycle driver); Ms Chukwan Prajikkit, 55, from Chumphon (motorcycle passenger); an unidentified female (passenger on Mr Phonlaphas’s motorbike); and Ms Ratchadaporn Boonjing, 33, a passenger in a black Toyota Hilux Revo from Chiang Rai.

All were taken to Patong Hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed that Mr Kritsana tested negative for alcohol and drugs at the scene. He was later formally charged with reckless driving causing death and serious injury, under relevant traffic and criminal laws.

The Patong Police said they had notified Philippines embassy representatives regarding the fatality, and that they were continuing their investigation.
