The incident occurred on Aug 18, when the father, 32, from Rawai, reported to Chalong Police that his son had been assaulted at Wat Sawang Arom School.
According to the report, two to three girls tied the boy’s hands, removed his shirt and pulled his pants down to his ankles, and proceeded to strike him with rubber sandals on his back, body and head, causing injuries.
A video of the attack, seemingly recorded by a member of his assailants, showed one girl repeatedly hitting the boy on the head, back and stomach with her rubber sandal.
The girl started her assault by raising her foot to the boy’s face and shoving him over, and continued by striking the boy with her sandal by raising her arm high and bringing it down as hard as she could.
At the end of the video, a different girl starts hitting the boy with her rubber sandal, repeatedly forcefully hitting the boy in the face.
The assault showed plain signs of malice, despite the girls’ young age.
Following the complaint, Pol Lt Col Charas Lempan, an investigation officer at Chalong Police Station, arranged a meeting on Aug 23 between the father the “involved parties”.
The investigation revealed that the girls involved in the incident included an 11-year-old. The girls’ guardians agreed to pay damages totaling B10,000 to the father.
It was agreed that split payments, altogether totalling the B10,000, would be made on Aug 31 and Sept 15. In return, the father agreed to waive any further legal action if the compensation was fully paid. However, despite the agreement, the father claims the payments were not made as promised.
Frustrated by the lack of action, the father has now turned to the media to bring attention to the case and seek justice for his son.
He has expressed his intention to pursue legal action if the other parties continue to ignore the compensation agreement.
