Dutch tourists assaulted by drunken foreigners in Kata

PHUKET: Police are investigating after two Dutch tourists were attacked by two unidentified foreign men outside a hotel in Karon early on Saturday morning (Aug 23).

Karon Police reported that the incident occurred at about 12:15am on Kata Rd. The victims, named only as ‘Mr Maximilian’ and ‘Ms Michelle’, told police they were walking past a hotel when they were approached by two male tourists who appeared intoxicated.

For unknown reasons, the men assaulted the pair. Mr Maximilian suffered a swollen injury to the left side of his head, while Ms Michelle sustained an injury to the right side of her face.

Both victims later filed a formal complaint at Karon Police Station, requesting officers to track down the attackers and bring them to justice.

No suspects have yet been identified, and police said no evidence has been recovered so far.

The case is being handled by Lt Col Nopadol Tonmanee under the supervision of Pol Lt Col Wiwat Chamnankit, Acting Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Karon Police Station.
