Officers from the Phuket City Police Narcotics Unit, under the command of Phuket City Police Superintendent Pol Col Chatree Chukaew, conducted the operation in the Thung Kha Phaniang Taek community in Ratsada yesterday (Aug 14).

The suspect, named by police only as ‘Phu’, 30, from Phang Nga, was found in possession of five bags of crystal meth (57.02g), 23 methamphetamine pills (ya bah), a digital scale, drug-taking paraphernalia, a black iPhone 11 and a white-and-brown Honda Scoopy-i motorbike.

The motorbike, valued at about B40,000, was seized for inspection under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. The items were recovered from two rental rooms in Soi Thung Kha 1 and Soi Sri Suchat Transport, both off Pracha Uthit Rd in Ratsada.

Phu has been charged with possession of Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, causing the spread of drugs among the public, and use of Category 1 narcotics without permission. He was taken to Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The same day, Wichit Police, working with Phuket Immigration and Phuket Mueang District officials, raided properties in their jurisdiction suspected of housing illegal migrant workers involved in drug use.

Led by Wichit Police Superintendent Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang, the team arrested six Myanmar nationals, including a 16-year-old, for entering the Kingdom illegally and for using methamphetamine.

The arrested men were named as Aung Pyae Phyo, 25; Zaw Win Aung, 31; Myo Kyaw, 24; Wai Yan Thte Paing, 28; Yan Naing Soe, 18; and a 16-year-old named by the pseudonym ‘Thetpaing’. All were taken to Wichit Police Station to face charges before deportation, police said.

Police in their reports reiterated their commitment to targeting both drug dealers and drug users, as well as migrant workers living and working in Phuket illegally, in line with national crime suppression policies.
