Officials have announced that partial road closures will be in place tomorrow (Saturday, June 14), from 3pm to 8pm, and again on Sunday (June 15), from 3am to 12pm, to accommodate the two-day marathon event.

The race routes will take runners through the Laguna Grove Activity Area, nearby resort grounds, and various public roads across Cherng Talay and further north into parts of Thalang District.

Now in its 19th year, the Laguna Phuket Marathon will feature a range of race categories spread across both days.

On Saturday afternoon, the program begins with a 2-kilometre Kids Run at 4pm, followed by a 5km Fun Run at 5pm. A 10km race will begin at 5:15pm, and the evening will conclude with a half marathon starting at 5:25pm. All races will have designated time limits, ranging from 30 minutes for the shortest race to three and a half hours for the half marathon.

The Saturday races will take participants on a course through resort landscapes, past Laguna Golf Phuket and into the grounds of Banyan Tree Phuket, continuing toward Sirinat National Park along Layan Beach. Water and sport drink stations will be provided along the route, along with medical support to ensure participant safety.

The marathon weekend continues early Sunday morning with longer-distance events that will require more extensive road closures.

The full marathon and marathon relay will both begin at 4am, while the half marathon will start at 5am. Time limits will vary depending on the event, with the full marathon course closing after seven and a half hours and the half marathon closing after four hours.

The marathon race route will take runners from Laguna Grove to the north of the island, covering areas in Cherng Talay, Sakhu and Nai Yang.

Along the way, participants will pass several key landmarks including Sirinat National Park at Nai Yang Beach, the Royal Thai Aviation Club, Daruslamidin Mosque, Wat Phra Thong and Wat Thepkrasattri in Baan Don. Runners will then return through the Laguna resort area, passing prominent hotels such as Banyan Tree Phuket and Angsana Laguna Phuket.

Aid stations throughout the course will provide water, sports drinks, fruit, limited quantities of coconut juice and access to toilets. Medical teams will be stationed along the route to assist runners in coping with the heat and humidity.

Organisers have apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused by the temporary road closures and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.

They have also encouraged drivers to plan ahead and avoid affected roads during the specified times.

The Laguna Phuket Marathon is organised by Phuket Marathon Co Ltd, in collaboration with Phuket Provincial Office and Laguna Resorts & Hotels. The event is intended to boost the local economy, promote sports tourism and reinforce Phuket’s standing as a world-class destination for international sporting events.
