The inspection focused on the implementation of the Ministry of the Interior’s policy to address six critical issues: drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal firearms, gambling, unauthorised entertainment venues and the activities of influential individuals, said an official report of the inspection.
The efforts are part of a broader mission to enhance social order and security in Phuket, a province vital to Thailand’s economy and tourism sector, the report said.
Mr Chaiwat emphasised the importance of creating a peaceful and safe environment to boost confidence among both tourists and local residents.
“Phuket holds a unique position as an economic and tourism hub for Thailand. Ensuring safety and stability here is crucial not only for the province but for the nation as a whole,” he stated.
During his visit, Mr Chaiwat commended the provincial and local authorities for their dedication. He urged all agencies to continue their efforts with determination, collaboration and a commitment to public service.
He also called on officials to promptly address any “obstacles”, emphasising the need to prioritise the well-being of the people and the country.
