A public notice posted by the Phuket branch of the Public Relations Department (PR Phuket) late yesterday announced the temporary closure. The Phuket Highways Office has yet to announce the temporary closure directly.
According to the PR Phuket notice, Somkit Kittisobhit, Director of Phuket Highways Office, said that the closure was necessary because Phuket Highways Office was to install a ‘Beware Rear-End Collision’ warning sign.
The closure will be from 10pm to midnight.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Mr Somkit said.
The notice did not give any explanation as to why the Phuket Highways Office felt compelled to install the sign now.
The underpass opened to traffic in April 2015.
