Pol Lt Col Chomphonuch Anantayakun of the Patong Police responded to the report, along with forensic officers and emergency responders from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation.
Initial investigations found no signs of struggle at the scene, police noted.
According to the man’s passport, the Danish tourist*, from Copenhagen, had arrived in Phuket on June 3, and he had visited Phuket last year.
People at the residence told police that the man had apparently been suffering from diarrhea, fatigue and a lack of appetite since his arrival.
Earlier yesterday the Danish tourist had been chatting with friends outside the residence before excusing himself to use the bathroom. When he failed to return after an extended period, one of his friends went to check and discovered his body.
Forensic officers from Vachira Phuket Hospital confirmed that there were no visible injuries on the body and estimated the time of death to be between three and four hours prior to discovery.
A medical examination will be conducted at the hospital in the hope of determining the exact cause of death, police said.
Authorities have informed the Danish Embassy of the man’s death, police said.
