The video clip, just 17 seconds long, appears to have been filmed by Fehr himself. (See below.)
The video shows him walking up to the doctor, Thandao Chandam, who was sitting on concrete stairs with a friend at the front of Fehr’s luxury villa at Yamu Beach last Saturday night (Feb 24).
Fehr walks briskly up to the two women. Ms Thandao turns around to see Fehr approaching when he is just a few metres away.
Without warning or provocation, Fehr kicks Ms Thandao. Although the video does not show his foot connecting with her body, the thump of his foot landing on Ms Thandao can plainly be heard.
While landing the kick on Ms Thandao, Fehr shouts at the two women, twice, “Get the f*ck off!”, followed by “Get the f*ck off here!”.
Ms Thandao and her friend quickly leave.
The release of the video comes as Fehr is to present himself to Thalang Police to answer to a formal complaint of assault today (Mar 1).
Police have assured fairness in their handling of the case, though the damning video makes any reports of the incident clear.
The video corrects the report by The Phuket News yesterday. The kick was no accident, there was no ‘slip and fall’, as previously claimed by Fehr.
There was no argument. The assault came without warning or provocation, other than the two women sitting on the concrete steps in front of Fehr’s villa, which he believed was on his property.
Phuket Provincial Police issued a statement last night confirming that the steps have now been confirmed to be on public land. The steps are to be removed immediately.
The statement by police last night also reconfirmed the police’s position that the incident is relevant to the task force formed by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat to review any incidents of bad behaviour by foreigners and to take corrective action, which includes the possibility of deportation.
Ms Thandao and her father, Mr Kasem, spoke with police for nearly three hours yesterday. Afterwards, the spoke with reporters.
“Right now, we’re still worried about whether it will really end with justice or whether there will be any intervention because the other side is an influential person. But the police confirmed that we will be treated fairly,” Ms Thandao said.
