The raid took place from 10pm to 11:30pm in the Laem Dinso area of Wichit.
According to police, youth gangs from both Wichit and neighbouring areas frequently use Sakdidet Rd ‒ connecting Ao Yon, Khao Khad and Laem Dinso ‒ as a racing route, disturbing residents late at night despite repeated arrests and warnings.
During the latest sweep, officers impounded seven modified motorcycles for illegal alterations and loud exhausts. The seized vehicles included five Honda Wave 110i motorbikes, a Honda Lead and a Honda NSX.
One of the motorbikes was fitted with a ‘red’ license plate from Phang Nga, another had no license plate at all.
All seized motorcycles were taken to Wichit Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang said the operation is part of an intensified effort to restore peace to communities affected by street racers.
“Over the past year, many of these gangs have been arrested, their bikes confiscated, and legal cases filed against their parents,” he said. “However, they continue to reappear, causing nuisance and fear among residents.”
He added that Wichit Police will now form a dedicated task force to track and arrest youth racers.
“We will work closely with village headmen, personnel from the Volunteer Defense Corps (OrSor) and administrative officials to enforce the law rigorously,” Pol Col Somsak said.
“Modified vehicles will be seized and sent to court. Parents of offenders will be summoned to acknowledge the charges. We intend to eradicate these gangs completely,” he vowed.
