The operation, part of a provincial order to ensure compliance with navigation laws, was led by Prawet Suphachai, Director of the Marine Department Region 5 branch, joined by Phuket Marine Chief Natchapong Pranit.
Other key figures included Somkid Chokong, Advisor to the Governor, and Mr. Somsak Niltib, a transport expert heading the task force.
During the inspection, 10 unlicensed jet skis were discovered, said an official report of the operation.
The operator/s were charged under Section 9 of the Thai Navigation Act B.E. 2456 (amended by Section 60, No. 14 B.E. 2535), which carries a penalty of up to B10,000 per offense.
Each operator was fined B10,000, the report said, without confirming how many operators were fined.
Officials also issued a stern warning to the operator/s, prohibiting them from using jet-skis to offer services to tourists until they comply with the law, the report added.
