The security guard, named by police only as ‘Mr Nattawat’ (also known as ‘Big’), a native of Satun Province, was arrested at a guard post within a condominium construction site off Mueang Naka Road in Moo 4, Wichit, on Thursday (July 10), Wichit Police reported.
Officers found 17 orange methamphetamine pills (ya bah) and one green pill hidden in a resealable plastic bag on the edge of a wooden frame inside the guardhouse. A set of drug-taking paraphernalia was also seized.
Nattawat’s urine tested positive for methamphetamine, police noted in their report.
Nattawat was taken to Wichit Police Station for further questioning and charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) without permission and drug use in violation of Thai narcotics laws.
Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang stated that the arrest followed an ongoing crackdown on drug-related activity in the Wichit area.
“We have continuously arrested drug users and small-scale dealers, both Thai and foreign, throughout our jurisdiction,” he said. “This case was the result of an expanded investigation to trace the source of narcotics, which led us to a suspect working as a security guard at a luxury condo construction site.”
Police investigations into the wider drug network are ongoing, Pol Col Somsak said.
