The operation, led by the CIB’s Highway Police Division, resulted in the arrest of a suspect identified only as ‘Imrohem’. Officers also seized a grey modified pickup truck and a mobile phone.
The arrest took place along Highway 4 near kilometre marker 736 in Bang Nai Si Subdistrict.
Police said they first became suspicious when they spotted the pickup, which had been modified for racing, behaving erratically. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated in an attempt to flee.
During the pursuit, officers saw the suspect throw two black plastic bags out of the vehicle. After forcing the pickup to stop, police detained the suspect, who later admitted to discarding the bags containing methamphetamine pills.
A subsequent search of the discarded bags uncovered 100 bundles of methamphetamine, each bundle containing 10 plastic packs with 200 pills each, totalling approximately 200,000 pills. The tablets were orange, flat and stamped with the letters “WY”. They were wrapped in wax paper printed with the logo “UFO 999”.
The suspect and the seized evidence were taken to Takua Pa Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The operation was carried out under the command of CIB Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Jiraphop Phuridet, with coordination from Highway Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Kongkrit Lertsitthikun, Pol Col Intharat Panya, and Pol Lt Col Phongsak Meemusik, along with Highway Police officers from Phang Nga, Krabi and Phuket.
