In the morning Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat opened up the doors to his office at Provincial Hall as he and his wife Mrs Busadee Suwannarat welcomed a group of youngsters to enjoy a range of fun games and activities.
In her role of President of the Phuket Red Cross Society, Mrs Busadee also oversaw an event in the grounds of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (PPAO) offices organised by members of the charity catering specifically for underprivileged local children. There were numerous games for the children to enjoy, while stalls provided refreshments and gifts were given out.
Throughout the day a series of similar fun-themed events then took place. The 3rd Naval Region organised a grand event at Phuket’s deep sea port, with the main attraction a weapons and equipment display. Games, prizes, gifts and plenty of snacks, food and drinks were also available for the children in attendance.
An official ceremony to mark Children’s Day was held at Saphan Hin Park, overseen by Thammawat Wongcharoenyot, President of the Phuket Sports Association who was joined by Chinsich Channarong, Treasurer of the Sports Association, Phuket Mayor Saroj Angkhanapilas, and Damrong Chaisena, Director of the Phuket office of the Provincial Sports Authority of Thailand Office.
Trin Panyawai, President of Sakhu Subdistrict Administrative Organization, oversaw an event in Thalang which encouraged children to think and act creatively and with expression. A variety of activities including a picture colouring contest, maths and english quizzes, live musical performances by students and a range of games booths.
In Si Sunthon Mayor Chalermphon Kerdsap welcomed children, parents and a number of local officials to enjoy fun, games and a wide range of refreshments from a series of stalls while similar festivities were held at Patong Beach and Ban Ko Maprao school.
In addition to the event organised in the morning at the PPAO offices by the Red Cross Society, a further event overseen by PPAO President Rewat Areerob was arranged in the afternoon where a trampoline, model plane and free haircuts were also on offer for the children to enjoy.
Last but not least were celebrations in Rawai at Nong Nam Nai Harn Public Park, overseen by the Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos. In addition to a range of stalls providing delicious refreshments and the distribution of toys and gifts to the children in attendanace, there was a water canon display from a fire truck and a helicopter performance to wow the local crowds.
