Chalong Municipality eyes B28mn Soi Palai improvement

PHUKET: Chalong Municipality at its first ordinary council meeting for the year yesterday (Feb 27) saw proposals put forward for projects requiring more than B132 million in funds, including B28mn to be spent on improving Soi Palai.

Council Chairman Khomsan Srisakulworathai presided over the meeting, held at the Chalong Municipality offices.

Also present were Chalong Mayor Thanaporn Ongsanthipa, Deputy Mayors Sanakorn Lokaew and Thanong Ongsanthipa, Council Vice President Supawatkan Khunlak and a host of other Chalong Municipality officials, as well as local Kamnan (subdistrict chiefs) adn community leaders.

The aim of the meeting was to review projects under the five-year local development plan, for 2023-2027.

Among the motions put forward yesterday was a proposal to secure funds from the budget for Fiscal Year 2024 to spend B28mn on improving the road surface along Soi Palai in Moo 2 and Moo 3, Chalong.

Another key proposal was to secure funding from the current budget to the amount of B96.85mn to build a new Chalong Municipality office building in Moo 4, Chalong.

A third project proposed yesterday was for a reinforced concrete retaining wall to be constructed in Soi Songkhun 1, in Moo 1, Chalong, with a budget of B7.205mn.
