The event, held at the Pearl Hotel in Phuket Town, was organised by the Chaiyaphum Provincial Agricultural Office under the 2025 project to promote value-added rice processing and meet agricultural standards, explained an official report of the event.

Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat presided over the opening ceremony, joined by Phuket Chamber of Commerce President Kongsak Khoophongsakorn, Chaiyaphum Chamber of Commerce President Patitta Choksuwatanasakul, Phuket Provincial Chamber of Commerce President Montawee Hongyok, local government officials, farmer representatives and entrepreneurs.

Chaiyaphum Provincial Agricultural Officer Kangsadan Chatakul said the key goal was to enhance farmers’ skills in rice processing, allowing them to increase the value of their produce and secure more stable incomes. The programme also aims to link Chaiyaphum rice products with new markets and tourism outlets, boosting the provincial economy.

“For 2025, the project includes training workshops for 320 farmers, study visits to pilot areas, support for production materials and packaging, and exhibitions to promote high-quality rice products,” Ms Kangsadan said.

The Phuket event featured business-matching activities and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between buyers and producers to build confidence and secure direct-to-consumer sales. More than 20 farmer and entrepreneur groups from Chaiyaphum displayed and sold their processed rice and other quality products.

Governor Sopon praised the initiative, noting Chaiyaphum’s strong agricultural potential and the importance of developing products that meet quality standards.

“This is an important approach to strengthening farmers, elevating their products to higher market value, and creating a positive image for Thai agricultural products,” he said.

He also commended the collaboration between the Chaiyaphum Provincial Agricultural Office and partner agencies, describing the event as a meaningful step toward helping farmers generate sustainable incomes and compete in wider markets.
