On an evening that celebrated some of most memorable moments of the campaign, Kasper Schmeichel and Wes Morgan announced a donation of over £60,000 (B2.58 million) from the Club’s players, before Vichai pledged a stunning £1M (B43.1mn) to the LCFC Foxes Foundation and its chosen charities.
This year’s event, in which Harry Maguire won both the Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards, raised funds to purchase equipment urgently required by the Children’s Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Alongside the four-course dinner and live entertainment, as well as the opportunity to raise money for Leicester Hospitals Charity and the University of Leicester, a host of incredible experiences were also auctioned off during the evening.
The Club is a long-term supporter of children’s health services in Leicestershire, raising crucial funds and raising awareness to support the work of the region’s dedicated, outstanding medical professionals.
With the players alone yielding the funds required to buy vital scanning devices for the CICU’s radiology department, which could treat more than 40 babies each month, the money raised on the night will make a considerable impact in the region.
The Club’s lasting partnerships with its community, exampled by the tireless efforts of the LCFC Foxes Foundation with the Leicester Hospitals Charity and University of Leicester, are underpinned by the support of Club Chairman Vichai.
Over previous years, Vichai has pledged £3M (B12.93) in personal donations to both the Leicester Hospitals Charity and the University of Leicester to aid their efforts to treat and research life-threatening illnesses.
