The accident occurred at about 12:30pm, with rescue workers called to the road behind the Coffee In Farm Phuket café and restaurant, located directly across from the Tin Mining Museum on Route 3030, the road linking Koh Kaew with Kathu.
After bursting its way through an elevated walkway, the truck came to a rest just behind the cafe and restaurant.
Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation rushed to the scene and used cutting equipment to extricate the driver, who was trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.
He was later transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment. His condition has not yet been confirmed.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Officials have yet to release details on the cause of the crash or whether the vehicle was carrying a load at the time. Police are investigating.
