The campaign launch came at Bangla Rd yesterday (Jan 14) with an event led by Woranith Apiratjirawong, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Commerce Office, along with Kathu District Chief Akkarapol Suttirak Chit-suphap and Patong Deputy Mayor Sanakorn Keesin.
Also joining the campaign launch were representatives from the Consumer Protection Group of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, led by pharmacist Anocha Na Takuatung.
The initiative targets both business operators and tourists, encouraging them to recognise and avoid the purchase or sale of counterfeit products.
During the event, Ms Woranith highlighted the importance of transparent business practices, particularly the clear display of price signs for products and services.
“Displaying price signs not only fosters transparency but also builds consumer confidence. It’s a legal requirement, and non-compliance may result in penalties,” she stated.
Ms Woranith urged business operators to adhere to the regulations to support fairness in the economic system and enhance Phuket’s reputation as a trusted destination.
The campaign also provided business operators with information on the legal consequences of selling counterfeit goods and emphasised the benefits of maintaining lawful and transparent operations.
Ms Woranith appealed to the public and tourists to avoid supporting counterfeit goods, emphasising that doing so supports a positive image of Phuket and promotes ethical business practices.
Individuals who encounter counterfeit products or suspect intellectual property violations are encouraged to report these instances to the Phuket Provincial Commerce Office or other relevant authorities.
“Such cooperation is vital for addressing the issue sustainably and ensuring that Phuket remains a hub of legitimate commerce and tourism,” Ms Woranith said.
