The Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation received a call for help at about 9:30am from local villagers reporting that the animal had become trapped. A team from the foundation’s Heroine’s Monument branch was quickly dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, rescuers found the male calf stranded at the bottom of a well about five metres wide and five metres deep. After assessing the situation, the team secured ropes around the calf’s neck and body and carefully hauled it to the surface.
The operation took more than 20 minutes. Once freed, the calf immediately ran back to its waiting mother to the delight of villagers who had gathered to watch the rescue.
No injuries were reported, and foundation officers reminded residents to take precautions around open wells to prevent similar incidents.
