British passport holder Ryan Ashley Horner, 34, was arrested by officials in Karon yesterday (Mar 7). The man was apprehended around 4pm at Wat Phra Yai, commonly known as Big Buddha Temple.

Mr Horner was charged with engaging in an occupation prohibited to foreign nationals, namely being a tour guide. The accusation typically brings charges according to the Decree on Foreign Labour (2nd edition, 2018) and the Tour Business Registration Act, though PR Phuket did not elaborate on this matter.

Mr Horner was taken to Karon Police Station for legal processing. One of the photos shared by PR Phuket shows Mr. Horner holding a work permit, though the name of his employer and position cannot be seen.
